FEES AND PAYEMENT
ARRANGEMENTS FAQ's
How much is tuition?
The fees costs are available on the LBPA Fee Sheet.
Are the fee rates likely to change?
We work very hard to maintain the fees as low as we can while still ensuring the tuition, accommodation and additional services are of a high standard. Fees are normally reviewed in the summer term and shared with parents before the September invoices are written.
Is there a sibling discount?
Yes. Currently, second and subsequent children within the same household received a 10% discount off their total class fees (not including exam fees, private classes or additional payments such as show fees).
Are any other discounts offered?
For each additional class each child takes, they receive a discount. Details of this is included on the current LBPA Fee Sheet.
Are scholarships awarded?
We strive to keep fees fair and equitable for everyone. LBPA does not have a policy to offer scholarships. In exceptional situations, LBPA may offer part or full scholarships as awards.
When are the invoices provided
We endeavour to get invoices out before the end of each term.
Do the fees include VAT?
The current fees for classes do not include VAT.
When I join LBPA why is there a registration fee and what does this cover?
The registration fee is a one off non-refundable payment. The amount is advised on the current fee sheet. This payment must be paid at the time of completing and handing in your registration form. This helps to cover the administration costs and any assessment classes which enable us to ensure the registrant enters the correct classes. You can pay this fee via cash or cheque when you send in or hand in your registration fee.
Can I trial classes before I commit to paying for them?
Students are invited to trial a week of classes. The trial classes are free and if they do not register, they do not have to pay. If the student joins, the invoice will include the trial class.
If I want a private class, do I get any discounts?
Discounts for siblings and number of classes being undertaken are not included for Private classes.
How much are private classes?
Details of all fee prices is on the current LBPA Fee Sheet
Some of the classes overlap, can I get a reduced rate for the lost time or overlapped classes?
LBPA offers what we believe very competitive discounts on multiple classes. For this reason with regret, we are unable to reduce the fees to accommodate where classes overlap.
When are fees payable?
Fees should be paid for the full term by the second week of the same term.
Is there a penalty for late payment?
To keep LBPA viable, with a reliable cash-flow and maintain the fee rate low for everyone, it is imperative fees are paid on time. LBPA always reserve the right to charge 5% for payments which have not been paid by ½ term for the same term which the fees are due. Additional costs and admin and solicitor fees 2 Issued July 2014
etc. can also be added to fees if measures need to be put in place for debt retrieval. In reality, we hope that we can find a mutually agreeable method to ensure payment is completed in a timely way. If you have any questions and want to discuss fee payments with us, please email us at lizburville@gmail.com. We would rather we could agree a payment arrangement with you rather than be concerned with enforcing penalty charges.
How do I pay my invoice?
We prefer if you pay via internet payment. Bank details are on every invoice along with the code for your payment details. The online bank details are: ‘Liz Burville Performing Arts’ sort code: 77-63-25 Account Number: 73242460. You can pay registration fees via cash. We do accept cheques payable to Liz Burville Performing Arts but will charge an administration fee if there are insufficient funds when we process the cheque.
I know I cannot pay the full fee at the start of term, are there any other payment plans?
We appreciate for many families meeting fee payments can be difficult. To keep LBPA viable, with a reliable cash-flow and the fee rate for everyone the lowest it can be, it is imperative fees are paid in a timely and planned way. If you would like to arrange a payment plan via a standing order, please contact Jo Ward the LBPA Administrator at lizburville@gmail.com.
Are there “pay as you go options”?
Only adult classes are “pay as you go”.
Are the costs of fees likely to change?
The fees are reviewed by LBPA during the Summer Term. If there are any changes, we will endeavour to get these to you before the end of term and so that you have the month of August to review the fee changes.
Can I get a refund if my child stops attending classes?
It is not normal for us to offer or agree to refunds. We offer students to trial classes before you commit to paying for them. There are a few exceptional situations where LBPA may agree to money paid towards one term to be offset against the following term’s fees. For example if the student requires to “Rest” for a medical reason or if a teacher advises the student “rests”. There are times when students are unable to take part in dance classes. At LBPA the term “resting” refers to a genuine medical injury or reason why a student cannot part take in a class. The person responsible for paying the invoice are asked to inform Miss Burville via email or in writing as soon as they are aware of the need to “rest”. Where at all possible, evidence of the reason for “resting” and expected length should be given. Where a payment for the full term has been made, credit will be used to pay towards the next term’s tuition. We are unfortunately not able to offer refunds. Where a payment has not been received, you will still need to complete the term’s fees as arranged at the start of term and credit will be arranged to be taken off the following term. If a student leaves, they will be required to give . term’s (5 week of term) written notice to Miss Burville.
There are other times when a student may need to “rest” which you will not be eligible for credit or refunds.
For example:
-
A child commences of changes full time education and finds combining a full day at school and evening classes too much until they become accustomed to it.
-
A pupil’s preparation for school examinations conflict with evening lessons.
If these situations occur, please provide Miss Burville with an email or letter with written notice of reduction or cancelation of classes. For these examples, 5 week fees will need to be paid in lieu of notice.
The student is taking an exam, will they change classes?
Students undertaking and ISTD examination will move up a class as soon as they have passed the grade. Students undertaking Trinity Examinations in Musical Theatre, Singing or Drama will tend to stay in the same class as these classes are linked to ability and school years rather than the graded system. 3 Issued July 2014
I want to change my classes for next term how to I arrange this
Please email LBPA Administrator Jo Ward at lizburville@gmail.com with the class changes. Where possible please can you do this before the last 4 weeks of term as invoices and classes are being organised.
I want to stop classes or reduce classes, how do I need to inform LBPA?
Please provide Miss Burville with an email or letter with written notice of reduction or cancelation of classes. At least . term’s (at least the last 5 weeks of term) notice must be given. Where this written notice is not given, 5 weeks of fees will need to be paid in lieu of notice.
What do the fees for examinations include?
• Examination fee for each exam and level being completed
• Coaching classes for each exam being completed
• Pianist (where relevant)
• Associated costs to host the examinations
• Administrative costs
• Teachers costs if entering the examination with candidate (where relevant for class examinations)
How do I arrange extra coaching classes for examinations or private classes?
All classes with our teachers must be invoiced via the LBPA Administrator. You can email us at Lizburville@gmail.com and we can ask the teacher for you if they are available to do the classes. Private classes include the teacher’s fee as well as the use of the premises.
Why do we pay and “show fee” for the end of term show?
The show fee is a small contribution to pay towards the additional costs for the show which are not expected to be covered by ticket sales alone. It is very unusual for ticket sales and the show fee to cover all the costs associated with putting on our productions so we ask you to help this by contributing to the show fee and related fundraising activities.
The show usually takes place the week after our 10 week term. There is usually a week of rehearsals which is not included within class fees. This week requires the use of the studio and teaching costs. The show fee also helps to pay towards these costs.
Are there likely to be additional costs for being a student?
For all Performing Arts schools and hobbies there may be other costs which you may need to meet. The budget for this could be variable but consider:
• Uniform and footwear
-
Competition and show fees
(these never compulsory and only need to be paid if the student wishes to be involved)
-
We sometimes arrange theatre trips, trips abroad and events at the studios.
These are never compulsory and you can choose if this is something you would like to be involved with
• Examinations fees
• Extra coaching classes (these never compulsory and only need to be paid if the student wishes to be involved)
How do I discuss fees and payment arrangements?
The best way to contact us is via email. This is so that we can all respond to questions and discussion when it is most convenient. Please email lizburville@gmail.com. The email account is managed by the LBPA Administrator Jo Ward. It is normal for most questions to be managed directly with Jo. If you or she feels the questions need to be escalated to Miss Burville, she will ensure Miss Burville is included in responses and asked for guidance.
I have a concern comment or complaint, how should I best contact LBPA.
We want to ensure we respond positively and quickly to any concerns, comments or complaints. In the first instance please email Lizburville@gmail.com with any questions comments or complaints. LBPA hopes that people do not have cause to complain about our fee or payment arrangement and aims to provide a high quality and efficient service. We therefore take all complaints very seriously.
