MISS BURVILLE

Liz Burville

Liz started her Studio in Bexley over 20 years ago, it began as The Liz Burville Dance Centre and is now The Liz Burville Performing Arts Centre and specializes in teaching all forms of Dance as well as Drama, Singing , Musical Theatre, and other associated Performing Arts subjects. Thousands of students have been trained by the Liz Burville method, and many have successful performing and Dance Teaching careers of their own.

Chloe started performing at 6 years old at The Dorothy Marshall School of Dance learning tap, ballet, jazz, modern and singing. The singing teacher at the school noticed Chloe was very enthusiastic about music and took her for private lessons, and this is where Chloe’s love of music began. At the age of 8 Chloe auditioned for West End Kids where she landed leading roles in shows such as Whistle down the Wind and Into the Woods and was able to perform in prestigious venues such as Her Majesty’s Theatre, the Excel Centre, the Science Museum, the Savoy Hotel and Trafalgar Square. She has also recorded an album for the NSPCC and recorded at Abbey Studios. At the age of 12 Chloe started lessons at The Liz Burville Performing Arts Centre and played Miss Hannigan in Annie, Mr. Smee in Peter Pan, Rock Fantasy and Cathy in Disco Inferno. When she was 16 and studying at Dartford Grammar Chloe was awarded a full scholarship to train at Trinity College of Music for two years in voice and piano. She has Grade 8 distinction Musical Theatre Voice as well as a performance diploma in Musical Theatre Voice. Chloe is now a third-year BMus student at City University London studying Music, as well as studying opera with Brian Parsons at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

MISS JULIA

BALLET / TAP / MODERN

 

Julia Pritchet

At 4 years old Julia started her training at the Gay Holdforth School of Dancing in Welling, Kent. At 16 went on to full time training at the Stella Mann Dance College in North London.  As well as getting her dance diploma she got her teaching associate exams in ballet, tap and modern for the I.S.T.D and her teaching certificate in ballet for the Royal Academy of dancing passing all 4 with distinction. Julia then went on to dance on various cruise lines around the world for 7 years including Carnival cruises, the worlds biggest cruise company for the last 5 years. In 2004 she moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada where she taught lyrical modern, jazz, tap and ballet to children aged 2, up to and including adults and professional dancers.  Julia also appeared as a guest teacher in cities such as Toronto, Niagara falls and Quebec city as well as teaching full time at various studios in Montreal. She choreographed many dance numbers for shows in and around the city. During her last 5 years there she choreographed for an annual charity show which raised thousands of dollars for the Montreal children’s hospital. Julia returned to the UK just over 4 years ago and is very happy to be teaching full time at ‘Liz Burville Performing Arts’. Julia has also assisted Liz Burville choreographing shows at the Orchard Theatre for ‘In The Wings Productions’ including Billy Elliot, Oliver!, Bugsy Malone and their latest production....Grease! 

MISS KATHLEEN

SINGING / MUSICAL DRAMA

 

Kathleen 

O’Shaughnessy

 

Kathleen graduated from Reynolds Performing Arts in 2011 with a Diploma in Performing Arts, since leaving college she has worked in various sectors of the 

entertainment industry. 

Kathleen has been lucky enough to travel around the UK and overseas as a dancer and performer since graduating. Performing at some incredible venues and working with some fantastic people so far in her career such as; Laban, London Plaza Hotel for the Young Apprentice Awards, ITV Studios for The Alan Titchmarsh Show, BBC Comic Relief, The Dorchester Hotel alongside Paloma Faith, Priestfield Stadium, Soccer Am, Annabel’s Mayfair, St.Omer France, Salou Spain, The Tassel Club Kings Cross, The Theatre Royal and many more.  Over her time in the industry she has also trained and worked in other disciplines including fire, stilts, double work and extra work and is keen to continue adding to these skills throughout her career.

 Alongside performing Kathleen is also a fitness instructor and dance teacher working across Kent at different schools and clubs passing on her knowledge to children and adults.

MISS ALLISON

BALLET / TAP / MODERN

 

Allison Cox 

Allison started ballet at the age of 2 ½. Ever since she started she knew she wanted to pursue a career in dance. Allison began her training at Stage door Academy, and transferred to Dorothy Marshall studios at the age of 12. At Dorothy Marshall Studios Allison took part in many shows and also appeared at the London Palladium. Allison also started competing in solo, duets and group competitions in Ballet, Modern, Tap and Lyrical all over the south East. 

At the age of 18, Allison set out on her dance career and was pleased to be offered places at Urdang College, Stella Mann College and Performer’s College , she chose to do her 3 year training at Performer’s college in Essex. During her training she took part in shows and charity events. In her final year she was selected to be in a ballet piece of Swan Lake by an outside Choreographer. Allison also achieved her teacher training. On leaving Performers she auditioned for many cruise ships and shows, but due to injury she was unable to complete contracts. 

Allison is now teaching at Liz Burville Performing Arts and is a confident teacher. Allison thoroughly enjoys teaching and hopes to continue teaching for many years to come. At Christmas 2012 Allison was selected to take part in her first stage pantomime show run of Dick Whittington. Then again at Christmas 2013 assisted in the choreography of the Aladdin Panto at Dickens World Chatham.  

Allison is also a fully licensed Melody Bear and Tip Tap Toe teacher.

Allison is very much looking forward to being a part of her first show with Liz Burville Performing Arts in the production of Thumbelina.

 

MR PAUL

BALLET / TAP / MODERN 

ISTD

Paul Groarkee

Paul has taught dance for 25 years, initially in the NATD method, swiftly moving onto ISTD when he moved to London in 1990. He has played piano for ballet, modern and tap classes, as well as examinations, for 34 years. His first accompanist work was at Frances Bleasdale School in Bolton, where he also took classes in Cecchetti ballet, NATD tap and stagecraft.

In 1984 Paul worked at Hammond School in Chester, playing for lower and upper classes and became head of music in 1989. Moving to London in 1990, Paul worked as an accompanist at Doreen Bird College, Central Ballet School, London Studio Centre, Elmhurst Ballet School and Performers College, as well as teaching music theory to students at Doreen Bird College.

Trained to teach ISTD ballet, modern and tap since 1992, Paul initially worked with Elizabeth Harrison, Liz Burville and Penny Meekings. He continued training at Chichester teacher summer schools over the years in order to achieve Licenciate and Fellowship status.

Paul is currently at LBPA and teaches tap dance from Grade 4 to Advanced 2. He also teaches DDI and DDE students in tap, modern and Vocational Grades up to Advance 2 in ballet, modern and tap. Ballet DDI and DDE students benefit from his musical past to help them improve their knowledge of music, as they prepare for their teaching exams in ballet.

Paul also teaches Imperial ballet to Advanced 1, tap and modern at DanceHouseUK in Eastbourne. He is an approved tutor in tap and modern at DanceHouseUK, as well as at LBPA. In addition, Paul is an accomplished pianist for ballet examinations for ISTD, RAD and BBO. 

 

MISS CARMEL

HIP HOP

 

Carmel Bondswell

Carmel began her professional dance training at The Laban Centre. During her time in London Carmel began to discover different styles of dance which inspired her to branch out of her contemporary training. She was highly influenced by Hip Hop and Commercial dance. Carmel mastered these styles through regular classes which propelled her into working in the commercial dance industry. Carmel has worked with artists such as PSY (Gangnam Style Man), Katy B and Ms Dynamite, Daniel Bedingfield and more. Carmel has also performed on T.V. shows such as ITV, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ , Sky One’s ‘Got to Dance’ promo alongside dance group Diversity and has performed Live at Various Festivals alongside 80s legend Denise Pearson’s (Appearing on the Voice and Thriller Live West end) performing as a group member of ‘Five Star’ Carmel graduated from Laban in 2011 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Dance Theatre. Carmel has always had a passion for choreographing and teaching, she taught her first class at the age of 15 and now teachers for a number of schools in London teaching Commercial and Hip Hop Carmel has a deep love and passion for dance and that love is infectious, she is a well-rounded performer who has the ability to inspire and enthuse others to express the joy of dance.
